I saw a hummingbird at the feeder around suppertime today. I alerted the household, so this time they were able to see the little green spot, too.
The way the little creature sat, probing around at one station, then hovered over to the next and repeated the process, makes me wonder if the hummingbird was after the sugar water, the ants that get into the sugar water, or maybe both. #1 daughter suggested that the feeder was providing a sort of main-course-and-desert service.
Unhappily, something seems to have happened to the webcam around 11:30 this morning - so we're the only ones who saw the hummingbird. I've got the thing online again - and will be trying to figure out what happened tomorrow.
Sauk Centre, Minnesota: near the corner of Ash Street and South 9th.
