This webcam dropped offline earlier this evening.
I gather that the DNS servers for my ISP went down for - maybe an hour this evening. That's not official, but my son reports that he could ping IP addresses - and access one website on his browser using its IP address.
Not much help to me, but at least we knew that we didn't have a local problem: and could relax while technicians somewhere else worked to restore service.
I'm hoping that there won't be any more surprises for quite a while now.

You aren't the only one who had trouble last night. I'm actually kind of relieved that you did lose internet last night. I was afraid there might be a glitch at my end.

I'll admit to being curious about how wide an area was affected.
Like you said: It's nice to know it wasn't in-house trouble.
